Design hotels in Greece

Hi - My husband and I plan to travel to Greece this year and would love some advice on accomodations. We would like to spend time in Athens and then one of the islands. We prefer modern design hotels. Any suggestions? Some that we have seen online are Blue Palace and Chromata, but we are having trouble deciding on anything. Thank you!

Hello! There is a very unique hotel in the centre of Athens, at the area of Psirri, which is a very popular area and very convenient for walks and siteseeing. It is called 'Ochre and Brown' and is one of my favorite bacause of its special design and atmosphere. You can check it out at the following address, where you can also see panoramic pictures of the hotel and its rooms etc.

I really think that you will enjoy your accomodation there!

Hi

The Fresh Hotel - http://www.freshhotel.gr - is pretty funky. Perhaps you need to state your budget (in euros) in order to narrow down your choices.

Oops sorry Tere - you got there before me. Great minds think alike! O-)

This is pretty good too - http://www.greekhotel.com/athens/athens-centro/home.htm.

The ART hotel also looks nice but I am not familiar with any of the above or this one as out of my price range. All 3 are at this website.http://www.epoquehotels.com/athens.html

I've just checked out all of KAT3R1NA's postings, and all of them are for recommendations for the commercial hotel broker hit460.com In other words, "she" is advertising for her company and does not appear to be an independent traveller making an honest, unbiased recommendation. The Ochre and Brown, which she recommends has its own website. If you are interested in this hotel, you may want to check out their direct website rather than going through hit360.com

I've never stayed there, so can't comment on it, although I'll observe that it isn't in the nicest neighborhood, being on a largely industrial area and busy street. Sure, yes, the area is in the process of changing, and may be beautiful in the future, but today, this month, this year, the neighborhood is not the greatest. And the Ochre and Brown looks a little pricy to me. But, hey, it may be great -- just pointing out to take the recommendation with a grain of salt.

As pointed out above, the Fresh and the O&B (and the Art Hotel) are all with Epoque Hotels (a company listing boutique hotels all over the world). I HAVE stayed at the Fresh Hotel and enjoyed it very much (except for the horrible and very loud techno music in the rooftop bar). Like the O & B, the Fresh is located in not the nicest area (although it is on a relatively quiet street), and is a little pricey. But it is, as you desire, modern and clean and bright with great bedding and comfortable beds and a very pleasant staff. If you can afford it, the Fresh is a good choice.
