Depart Venice by Train

What is the best way to get from Rialto Bridge area to Santa Lucia Train Station. Vaparetto? Walk? Can I walk from Piazza Le Roma? Thanks to all the Fodorites who have helped answer my questions the past few weeks.

By my definition of best (fastest and least hassle with luggage) it's vaporetto - right to the station.

You can walk from Piazzale Roma to the train station, yes. You always The new Ponte di Calatrava opened up last year (I believe) making the trip shorter than it was.

the vaporetto is quick and easy.

too far to walk in my opinion if you have suitcases.

If you wish to walk from Rialto to the train station you can certainly do it too - you'd zig and zag through Venice and cross over 4 or 5 canals but it wouldn't take more than 15-20min by foot, assuming you don't get lost or have luggage.

I was assuming you'll have some luggage? I'd take a vaporetto that will drop you right there. If no luggage, then do the walk.

Hi Ro,

You can plot your walking routes at www.viamichelin.com.

Click "pedestrian".

There are vaporetto stops at the Rialto and the train station.

What is "best" depends on whether the vaporettos are mobbed with tourists.
