One thing I appreciate about travelling is the different foods. But, having lost 50 lbs and having "issues," I also like to know what I will be confronted with. I know I'll get lots of good fresh fish, but I also fear lots of high fat content sauces and yogurts. What are the foods I can expect? I want to enjoy the food, not stress about it.

Well, the day-to-day fare is meat and potatoes. Our experience is probably a little different, since we were in a home, but we had bread and butter, yogurt and cereal for breakfast, and meat, potatoes, sauces and other vegetables mostly. However, the menu was pretty varied. We had pasta one night, grilled out another, ordered pizza, etc. We were both on Atkins at the time and just gave it up for the trip and enjoyed! I think the main thing that will save you, though, are the small portions. You typically won't find huge American-sized portions in Denmark. There are loads of delicious, rich foods, but all in small sizes. I remember when I lived there that it was so strange that we would have a regular round cake for our while class! For family tea, it seemed like we actually split a cookie into four pieces! The thing we enjoyed most, though, coming off several months of Atkins, was the beer...cold and great everywhere we went.

You can "keep the faith" (WW) by carefully watching portion control. If something is heavily sauced, just leave most of the sauce on your plate. Eat fruit with only a tiny bit of yogurt. Snacking is not as common in Europe as the U.S. so that is helpful. Just 3 meals to figure out.
