Denmark: No Trans Fats!
In a recent NPR report about New York and SF thinking of instuting laws banning Trans-Fats in restaurants it pointed to Denmark having already instituted such a law. The point was how well it was working. Anyone know anything much about it? Just curious.
Q- Will those Danish pastries taste the same? |
I don't believe butter is not a trans-fat. So? The bakeries that use butter should taste the same, those that used margarine or other fats, they will taste better.

Er..um... (note to self, PROOFREAD!)
I meant to say, I believe butter is not a trans-fat. |
We were in Denmark this summer. We weren't aware of the law. We enjoyed plenty of delicious Danish pastries. We also noticed lots of ice cream stores and stands as well as McDonalds and Burger Kings. I don't think the Danes have adopted a "no fat" lifestyle.

Butter is NOT a trans-fat... not to say that eating it greedily is superhealthy. It is Saturated Fat, as is Lard
Transfat is the new name for what they used to call hydrogenated fat -- in other words, Crisco, Spry, and Margerine that is solid rather than liquid. |
