Denmark&Sweden not on Euro?

These two countries don't use the Euro -- is that correct?

jbtan Aug 1st, 2006 02:16 AM

That's right. I couldn't use my Euros anywhere in Norway, Denmark or Sweden. The taxi drivers may accept Euros but they will advise you to use your credit card instead. Best to get your kronor or krone. Happy traveling!

Local currencies are Danish Krone and Swedish Krona. Exchange rates are around DKK5.85 per US$1, SEK7.55 per US$1.

Currently, you can remind yourself that the Euro countries are BAFFLING PIGS:

Belgium
Austria
France
Finland
Luxembourg
Italy
Netherlands
Germany
Portugal
Ireland
Greece
Spain

The 10 "new" EU countries are supposed to be getting ready to meet the economic criteria for joining the Euro zone in 2008, though heaven only knows what that would do the mnemonic.

Norway does not use the € either.
Finnland does.

And most EasyJet flights don't accept US $$.

Patrick -- maybe it should be BAFFLING PIGS' PAIN so that people recognize the last S is (S)pain and not (S)weden!

;)

Why would you expect an airline which operates solely in Europe to accept anything but local currency?

Baffling Pigss after Jan 1, 2007 when Slovenia is allowed into the elite Euroland.
