Den Bosch vs nearby towns? Daytrip from Eindhoven
Hello, we will be landing in Eindhoven and are planning a half daytrip either into Den Bosch ('S Hertogenbosch), Tilburg or Breda by train. Any personal recommendation? We're somewhat fluent in Dutch and have been to Amsterdam, Haarlem, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Leiden & Delft. We appreciate the dutch friendliness and humor, discovering local atmosphere, cafés, shopping and a little history. In my research I only found one article covering this area: http://www.omroepbrabant.nl/?news/22...+autostad.aspx
We would love to get more personal recommendations. Thank you |
The regional news station is right: Den Bosch is by far the most attractive city around. If you've time and transport, combine it with nearby Heusden.

I'd go to Den Bosch. Fantastically generous restaurant scene, gorgeous city scapes, really nice. And Heusden is a gem (but harder to reach without a car)
|
Den Bosch for sure. It's a very enchanting place.
|
Public transport to Heusden turns out not to be too bad: half-hourly bus connection (no.135) from Den Bosch railway station, taking 30 mins.
|
Another vote for Den Bosch!
|
Then you also have Utrecht or Maastricht.

Thank you all for your unanimous Den Bosch recommendation. We may have a friend to drive us to Heusden as well :)
Any great lunch place recommendation? We would love to find a great dutch (or french) lunch venue in Den Bosch or even in Amsterdam & Den Haag. For example in Rotterdam we thoroughly enjoyed De Ballentent for their meatballs and fried liver & onions and their lively traditional kroeg atmosphere to boot. |
