Delta Skymiles, FINALLY I was able to book a flight!
After many hours online and on the phone I was finally able to book 2 coach tickets to Italy using skymiles (60,000). I wanted to share what I found out be we the best way to do it. When searching online choose one-way flights and "search by schedule" not by price. After you find the one-way flight then search for the return, again using one-way "search by schedule". Also I found flying on either Tuesday or Wednesday usually is less points. I hope this helps anyone trying to book award tickets.

Thanks, debp, I use to have the NWA ff and now of course have Delta's which I have not used or even checked out. Did you book via the phone? I ask as you said you were on the phone with Delta. If so what did they charge you? Thanks.

Thanks for the info! I used to have good luck booking foreign carriers on Northwest, but haven't booked anything since the merge with Delta.

Thanks for sharing! I will definitely try your technique. It takes forever to save 60,000 miles for 2 people let alone 90,000 miles. Did you book 330 days out???

Was the 60,000 miles for one person roundtrip?
Are your flights non-stop? |
Thanks for the info-- I often resign myself to using a travel agent to score tix on Delta.

Hi annw, what does a TA charge you for booking your FF tickets with them? And does that work better and easier than trying to DYI. Thanks!

Congratulations!
As someone who is trying to burn those last 60,000 miles -- for a summertime trip to Europe, no less -- I know what a triumph you've achieved.... |
I booked my tickets online for Air France flights. I called to check for Alitalia flights because they do not show up on the Delta website. 60,000 points per person R/T. I did not book 330 days in advance but pretty close, June 2011. I don't think July (330 days) was available. The last return date I could find for 60,000 was June 22nd. The flights are with one stop which is the only thing available from my area.
Good luck! |
Bookmarking, for some reason we fly mostly Delta in the last few years, so may be eligible for the next trip... Thank you, DebP!
I hear Venice calling my name :) |
