Delta Airlines to Rome - carry on

Did I read somewhere that you can only take one carry on on Delta international flights that INCLUDES a personal item (purse, backpack)?

No, you can still bring a personal item in addition to one piece of carry-on luggage.

Can't find the rules on Delta's website for flights FROM Italy - and I'm assuming that the flight isn't via the UK in either direction
