Has anyone flown Delta Airlines to Europe from the states? If so, what did you think of the flight and airline.

Yes. Just fine in coach. Great in First Class.

Angy: I have flown Delta to Europe several times. The flight and airline were pretty typical. In coach packed in like sardines in but that is true of every airline I have flown. I can say that they have never lost luggage, except in Amsterdam for 24 hours but that seems to be typical of Amsterdam rather than any particular airline. Flights left and arrived on time and service has been fine. I prefer Delta over other airlines, such as United, but they are neither exceptionally bad nor exceptionally good. Fairly typical and if the price is right that's fine with me. They got the important part right, take off and landing were successful and, after all, that's what is important. Hope this helps. JD

Delta to/from Rome a few weeks ago ... just fine.

It depends on the crew, the weather, and the luck of the draw. It is merely an endurance contest to be tolerated.

Well if Bob is correct, I must have gotten an unbelievably bad draw. Delta is the only airline I have sworn to never use again.

I agree in general that it's more about one's attitude than the airline itself, but ...

That being said, Delta is the one carrier I <i>try</i> to avoid because it is the <i>only</i> airline that has &quot;misplaced&quot; my bags, about a year ago, Orlando to New York flight.

But I've flown Delta 3 or 4 times since that incident, with no complaints.

The negatives:

They use mostly older 767 aircraft with no individual tv monitors. The projection television in the front of the cabin consists of a movie or two and commercials.

The positives:

Delta is now offering a complementary alcoholic drink with their meals to Europe while most U.S. airlines have cut back and started charging $5 for a drink.

Delta has great connections to many cities in Europe from Atlanta and JFK.

Bottom line: Price, Frequent Flyer program, connections, food, drinks, entertainment. Delta isn't Virgin or British Airways, but their not the worst.

I, too, will never fly Delta again if I have a choice. They didn't lose my luggage, they bumped it to make room for a large group traveling with a lot of luggage. I had to hang around the airport for two hours until the next plane arrived with my luggage.

If I quit flying every airline that has lost my luggage, treated me badly, has gate agents that are rude etc... I would have to WALK!

You pay your money you take your chances. (However, your chances of &quot;lost&quot; luggage appear DRAMATICALLY higher on USAir thru Philadelphia so plan accordingly!)

I presume my luggage was bumped due to a full flight of Disney families.

But I didn't receive my bags until 48 hours had passed. Fortunately I was home and it didn't really matter, but Delta is still the only airline that has ever mishandled my checked bags.

Since I live in Atlanta, I have flown Delta many times but only once internationally on a flight to Germany. The flight was pretty uneventful (no lost luggage, thankfully!) but I was really impressed with the flight attendants. On most of the flights I've taken, you get one cup of some type of beverage and that's it. On the international flight, they were constantly coming around with drinks and asking if they could get us anything. It was a pleasant switch!!

I would definitely fly them again.

We flew Delta open jaw from/to Salt Lake City via FRA/MUC. The flights were okay but they changed our reserved seats from the window to the center section and set a single passenger in our two seats. We were not amused.

Salt Lake City is a Delta hub and we will use them again certainly, but only if they are the cheapest. We are flying Lufthansa next spring back to M&uuml;nchen.

Are you out there?

Since I live in a Delta hub, we have flown Delta many times to Europe. Maybe it's familiarity, but I prefer Delta. We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade on our Christmas trip to Germany, and LOVED the business elite way of crossing the Atlantic.

Imo, any airline can lose luggage, often for reasons beyond their control. The only airline I will try to avoid is USAir. Not only did they lose the luggage of some of our group this summer, it was lost for 6 days, and their customer service left boatloads to be desired.

If you are traveling cattle class, Delta is no better and no worse than other airlines.

Well, JetBlue &amp; British Airways, among others, have individual televisions in coach, so that's one differentiator.

But Delta is &quot;fine&quot; for an old-school carrier.
