Be careful of that code share business. We just returned from Paris. Our flight over was on Air France but but the ticket was written by Delta. When the disaster struck last Tuesday, though we had a confirmed flight on Air France for Thursday they didn't have us on their manifest list. They said to call Delta. Of course we couldn't reach Delta. Called for three days and only got a recording in French!!!!!! At least Air France had French and English on their answer machine - not so Delta.

That said, once we got to the airport both Delta and Air France were wonderful. But, neither knew which airline we belonged on. Spent and hour and a half on the AirFrance line only to be told that we should be on the Delta line. Then spent another hour and a half on the Delta line only to be told we had to get on another special line to get a sticker on our tickets. I got on that line and there were at least 100 people in front of me. The line never moved for 1/2 hour. There was only one Delta employee at the window helping the same person the entire time. I went back to the Delta line and a wonderful gentleman let us get on line without a sticker on our tickets. We were finally waitlisted as standby and amazingly got a flight out.

Delta and Air France couldn't have been nicer but this confusion over who wrote our ticket and which airline would take it was frustrating to the extreme and made our position much more difficult. I should add that the friend I was traveling with had lost a nephew in the WTC and needed to get home. That fact was never taken into consideration in out quest to get home. There was no list as reported or any way to get on one if there was.

As to the original question. I have no problem flying Delta or Air France. Take your choice. The security in Paris is all arranged by the French. I;m sure they profile as I saw other people detained and their luggage thoroughly gone through.

I know other people detest profiling. But personally, if it is meant to insure the safety of 300 other people on a plane, they can go through my luggage any time they choose. If I have nothing to hide, why should I be insulted?

I also think this fear of flying has to do with what point you are in your life. Do you have young children who are dependent on you? Then maybe I wouldn't go.
