Delphi - hotes suggestions and a question!

Hello -

we will visit Delphi in October and would like to know what time the site opens and closes each day - or a link to an information site.

Also, do you have any suggestions for good hotels?

thanks!

We stayed here - www.sibylla-hotel.gr/index.html I think it was the cheapest hotel I've stayed in in years but it was clean, fabulous location and great view.

Hi

We stayed at the Parnassos Hotel - http://www.parnassos.org - and found it quite adequate. Otherwise I think you need to be more specific about your budget.

You might consider staying in the very cute little town of Arachova, about 20 minutes from the Delphi site. I stayed at the Santa Marina Arachova Resort (on the hill above Arachova), but they also have a sister property within the town proper. The resort was beautiful, all stone and wood with fantastic views from the balconies over the valley all the way to the Gulf of Corinth. Arachova is a ski resort in the winter, and even in September it was cool and quite charming, more so I thought than Delphi town. They had a nice taverna, and the church is several hundred steps up the hill from the main street.

We stayed in Arachova in the Guesthouse Generalis, which was lovely and full of character:

I agree with the last poster that Arachova is a nicer place to stay than the town of Delphi, though it is likely to be very quiet out of season - we visited late September. If you are interested, my trip report from this trip with more description of the accommodation, Arachova and Delphi is on here:

Santa Marina is a good choice if you want an upclass accomondation, but avoid the sister hotel inside Arahova town. The original Santa Maria is built a few years ago and has some very nice facilities, the sister hotel is the old Xenia, and no matter what maintenace work has been done, its age still shows... It is advisable to have your own car to stay in Arahova and especially S.M. though...
In Delphi, the so called up-class accomondation is averrage if not extremely poor,I wouldn't advice any of the A' class hotels.
For cheap and nice family owned B&B's personaly I advice Pan Hotel, specially the rooms at the upper floor with views to the valley, which are quite spacey.
But to be honest, you can't go wrong with any of the similar small B&B in Delphi. Decent and clean, great views to at least hald of them...
