Delphi & Nafplio
Planning to do a trip to Nafplio & Delphi, Will stay in both places for 1 night or 2. We be starting from Athens. Possible to combine these 2 trips into 1 or should we make Delphi & Nafplio 2 separate trips? We be taking public transport. Will there be easy transportation between Delphi & Nafplio? Which one should we do first if we were to combine the 2!

Have you considered doing these as part of an organized "Classical Tour" (which also includes Olympia and Corinth) or do you have to do it on your own?

We have looked at those tour package. Seems rather pricey. Say euros 400 for 4d3n. Any more affordable tour agency to recommend. Otherwise we got to do it on our own. We might make Delphi a day trip if we really want to keeP cost down as we have free accomodation in Athens.

Why not rent a car? You really need one to get to sites like Tiryns, Mycenae and Epidaurus from Nafplion. Driving in Greece is not the nightmare many would have you believe. I really enjoy it.
The drive from Athens to Delphi via Thebes on route E962 (3) is usually quiet and a much nicer route than taking the National Road. |
Cars rental are out of the qns. Possible to do Nafplio from sat to mon and Delphi from tue to wed? Will shops and places of interest be open on sun and mon? Read that most museuems are closed on mon.

You only need one night in Delphi, add that other one to Napflio, so much to see there.Napflio is a beautiful small city surrounded by incredible antiquities.

I think we answered this question in the past.... You cannot combine Nafplio and Delphi easily with public bus. You would have to go from Delphi back to Athens and from there to Nafplio. The route via Patras would be much longer. ParisAmsterdam The route that you mentioned is quiet from Delphi to Thiva. ( depending on the day of the week). From Thiva to Livadia and the Highway to Athens, there are usually many heavy trucks.... HappyTrvlr Don't underestimate the Delphi are... Amfissa, Galaxidi and Nafpaktos are worth seeing as well :) |
We enjoyed Galixidi too. I was thinking of Delphi, the historical site.
