Decent Hotels in Venice UNDER 200 Euro

Every hotel I have checked with that is recommended seems to be over 200 Euro. I was hoping to not spend so much money - but will if I have to.

I am hoping SOMEONE has recommendations for a clean, comfortable hotel (must have a/c for hubby) for under 200 Euro.

Thanks!

Oh - we are going in September.

Hi,

You may want to try a search here on fodors for "Venice budget hotel." There are several good hotels under 200 Euros that are mentioned here repeatedly, the most popular being La Calcina, although they book up months in advance. I really enjoyed Casa Rezzonico for 145/night in May 2004. According to veniceby.com (a good resource for searching for hotels), they have air conditioning in "some" of their rooms. I'm not sure about La Calcina. Keep in mind that air conditioning in Europe is not the same as it is in the US.

Try www.venicelaresidenza.com
It is a wonderful place, if you don't need help from the staff. It is safe and very clean and near a water stop.
The place is the best for the money that I have stayed in in Europe.

You may want to consider Ai Mori D'Oriente.

We stayed there in May, and it was wonderful.

We like the Hotel Ala very much. They have rooms under 200 Euro although whether they have availability in September, I don't know. The hotel is in a wonderful location, a minute's walk from a vaporetto stop and about 10 minutes from San Marco. It is located on a small canal. If you put Hotel Ala in the search box above, you will find that a number of people have enjoyed their stay at the Ala. See it at www. veniceby/alahotel.

Try Ca Del Dose (www.cadeldose.com)! We stayed there for one night in June and paid 120 euros. It's a short walk from San Marco but in a quiet area. And yes, they have air conditioning!!! My husband was so relieved! They lady that works there (either Anna or Susanna, I can't remember) is so nice and extremely helpful with recommendations for where to go and what to do. The rooms are clean and very nicely decorated, no complaints!

Ca Bernardi has beautiful rooms and a studio apartment for under 200 Euro.
They are kind of new, so may still have rooms available.

Hotel Violino d'Oro (just off St. Marks Square) and Hotel Canal and Walter (near the train station). I have stayed in both, both have AC, both were under 150€ when I stayed there (both times in July - 2003 and 2005). Google them, they both have web sites as well as being listed on many other booking sites. Or try venere.com

We just returned from Venice and stayed at Locanda Orseola which I highly recommend. It was very close to St. Mark's Square but was still very quiet.

The staff was extremely friendly & attentive and the rooms were very clean. We spend two nights in a deluxe (i think it was 220€) and one night in a standard (170€), the standard was a great deal for 170€. And it did have A/C but I don't think we ever turned it on.

I agree with Jessica. We stayed at Locanda Orseola this past June and had a Courtyard room for 190Euro (but we booked in Jan/Feb time frame). AC worked very well and the owners and their staff are exceptional!

We paid only 90 Euro for a double in 2003 at The Hotel Europa, which we found on Venere.com I think...It was a very nice hotel just a block and a half behind St. Marks, and had a lovely square with yummy restaurants to eat at. We loved the service, the rooms were big and airy, and we had a wonderful stay.

Good luck,

Jules
