Decent hotel in Paris
Can anyone suggest a decent hotel in Paris? We're only there 2 days, but want to do Musee d'Orsay and others. Clean, nice, but need not be an experience.

If you search on hotels and paris, you'll find more suggestions that you can imagine. Depending on your budget and when you are visiting, there will be many choices. Our family stayed at the Claude Bernard while we were there.

I can suggest a few in a modest price range well under 200 euros. Hotel Muguet (www.paris-hotel-muguet.com) is behind the Invalides and fairly close to the Musee d'Orsay. According to its website rooms have been refurbished this year, prices have certainly gone up. Our double with queen bed, shower and air conditioning was very clean and well-kept. Top floor rooms have views of Eiffel Tower and the dome on Invalides.
Hotel Londres Eiffel (www.paris-hotel-londres-eiffel.com/) was my favorite Paris hotel however without shower curtains my husband won't return. I'm hoping the addition of flat-screen TVs might entice him next year. We had a view of the Eiffel Tower, a great neighborhood with lots of food, free Internet access in the old phone booth in the lobby, pleasant staff. One drawback is that Rick Steve's tours used this hotel. And we don't recommend the restaurant next door--vermin in the window! Next year I expect we will return to the Relais Bosquet (www.relaisbosquet.com) for its comfort and reliability. Also in the 7th, the rue Cler market is at the end of the street and some top floor rooms have E.T. views. Rooms have hair dryers, irons, tea & coffee making--lots of comforts. We just came back and stayed for the 2nd time at the Hotel Muguet. I posted about it - "Anniversary Trip to Paris". Liked it very much. Extremely clean. Good location. But, small room and beds were a little hard for our taste. Would definitely go back.

It's been a few years but we stayed in the Hotel Notre Dame right across the river from Notre Dame Cathederal on the left bank. Our room looked out onto the river and the view of Notre Dame all lit up at night was awesome. The room included a delightful breakfast of fresh orange juice, crossants and cappucino. It was great!!

It depends on how much you want to spend. My wife and I decided to stay at TimHotel Tour Eiffel since we were staying for a week and needed something "cheap". Just came back from Paris this week and stayed at the Hotel Verneuil in the 7th, near the Orsay and a very easy walk to the Louvre. It was very nice. We had a SMALL double with a bath and toilet and had breakfast there ( you don't have to) for 179 E. I really enjoyed it and would stay there again.
