December in Slovenia
 

I have wanted to go to Lake Bled for a long time now and thought it would be a great place to go for my 70th birthday. However I need to know if I will be sure of getting snow between 4th to 8th December. My partner and I love walking and enjoy small villages on a Lake like this. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated. Would also like to go to Ljubljana for a couple of days.

Snow that early will be unlikely but possible, lake bled is surrounded by mountains which might have a light dusting, while the bowl can stay clear of snow even through the winter.
Ljubliana has a small but pleasant centre, a couple of shopping streets, a couple of restaurant bar and coffee streets and two good musuems. Two days might be ok and if people watching is your thing then fine.

Actually, December in Ljubljana is pretty lovely with all the holiday decorations and the Christmas market, both will have started by the time you visit.

Snow in early December is far from guaranteed. That is, a snowy day or two will most certainly have happened by then, but it will probably melt after a few days, as the temperatures won't have dipped low enough and the ground will still be warm. So unless there's a cold spell or your stay happens to coincide with a day with snowfall, you're not likely to experience it. Higher elevations are more likely to have snow. Should that be the case, you can venture to nearby Bohinj, for example, and take the cable car up to Mt Vogel or visit some other high-altitude place nearby, such as the herding village of Velika Planina near Kamnik.
