Decaf in Italy?
is it difficult to find Decaffeinated coffee in italy... in the B&B's and cafe's ?
Smaller hotels might be tricky but many cafes will have it. In the same way that one might ask for a "Sanka" in the USA, in Italy one can ask for "cafe Hag" a well-known brand (pronounced AAHG).
I think that Sanka is known world-wide. Even if that is not the brand they stock. In fact, I think in much of the world it is thought of as a generic noun, like xerox or kleenex, partly because it sounds like what it is - - "SANs CAffeine".<BR><BR>Just saying "Decaf" is very widely understood too.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>[email protected]<BR>

You can also safely ask for <BR>"un caffe decaffeinato" if you don't remember the term "caffe hag".
Basically, you probably won't find decaf perked, dripped or any form like that. My husband has asked for decaf and everytime it's instant in a packet. Most times it's Sanka. He doesn't ask anymore. Forget decaf tea. I've never been able to get that so I bring my own.
Can you also ask for a decaf cappuccino, macchiato or espresso?
yes.
I have never had a problem getting brewed decaf in hotels, restaurants and cafes in Italy. There may be places that have only the powdered variety but I have not experienced that. Decaf latte, cappucino and espresso are easily obtained. I just started drinking decaf about 4 years ago so this may be a recent turn of events.
