My dear Rex,

Does everything have to have a smiley face attached?

If you dont mind tripping over all the Pished up Brits drinking themselves to oblivion as is the tradition, these are some of the clubbing holiday areas to go for if you are having a clubbing girly holiday (Ive been known to enjoy them too with my girlfriends - variety is the spice of life after all, best of both worlds and any other cliches you care to mention):

Canary Islands - Tenerife (Las Americas), Lanzarote (P Del Carmen)

Majorca, Ibiza

Benidorm (wouldnt touch this myself with a bargepole but we must draw a line somewhere!!)

Greece - Rhodes (Faliraki)
Corfu (not up to date as to the clubbing scene though so not sure of the resort here)
Crete (Malia - AND you can get in some fuddy duddy stuff by visiting Knossos!!)

*thinking of more*

Ciao debbie e tutti!

Been sick these last few days a spell of vertiago. Missed the boards! So Debbie you got alot of response in that time, and I do agree with going to Rimini, but also the Costa Smeralda on Sardegna, up near Porto Cervo. Most of my Roman & Florentine friends escape to Sardegna when looking to let lose! I'm 28 y/o and agree with you about traveling at this age!

Ciao

People, People,

Am I the ONLY one that has to work for a living? Trust me I am not a fictional person.

Thanks to those of you who were helpful and not critical or judgmental. I will be doing research on THOSE suggestions. Not so sure I will post my final choices, as I am sure there will be those of you who disagree with my decision and won't be able to keep their negative remarks to themselves. Clearly with this bunch you have to put on your combat gear to even get through the majority of the replies. If I wasn’t so confident and secure in my person I might consider slitting my slutty wrists.

Thanks again to those of you who were the helpful ones.

BTW – 30’s is the new 20’s?

I found this thread amusing.
As a 20-year-old, I spent as much time in Europe in the museums as possible. I partied some at home of course, but used my time overseas to see as many great sights as I could fit in and afford.
Not much changed during my 2002 trip as a 22-year-old, nor during every semi-annual trip thereafter.

So... at the ripe old age of 27, am I a fuddy duddy for prefering an evening at a piazza cafe full of people watching and good wine as opposed to a disco dance club not all that different than what I can find in the US? ;-)

BTW, the Cinque Terre is not a party spot. It's quiet. There are a lot of tourists but there aren't dance clubs, noisy bars blaring loud music, etc. Maybe you should try Barcelona? My 24-year-old sister spent the summer there last year and she went to a few clubs and had a great time.

I personally don't think anyone is a fuddy duddy for enjoying art and culture. What I do think is duddy is when people make derogatory remarks about others when they've never met them. But you do need to have some thick skin to come on here and I applaud Debbie's sassiness.

loves2sing - I agree totally. It's refreshing to see someone who knows exactly what they want and isn't afraid to ask for it.

Debbie - you go, girl!

Not sure you need combat gear - more like a sense of humor ...

and realistic expectations - when you start out a post with "I’m not looking for any snooty disparaging remarks from a bunch of old fuddy duddies ...", you might expect people to have a bit of fun with it...

and if you notice, most of the people who responded with some tongue in cheek are regular posters who are generally very helpful and probably couldnt resist a little fun ... she made it soooo easy....

"BTW – 30’s is the new 20’s?"

Only for people in their thirties. For people in their twenties, thirties are the new forties.

Go Girl Go!!!

Unfortunately, I haven't looked for teh dolce vita in Italy - friends used to talk about wild parties in Amalfi in the late 60s. Do they still happen?

lenox236: I don't think not starting with the "snooty disparaging remarks" comment would have mattered much. I posted a similar question on another thread without all the attempts to ward off negative remarks and I got plenty. In fact it seems the moderator removed a couple of the really rude ones on mine. Even my attempt at humor (which normally I am quite the funny girl) was used against me by some of the so called "regulars". I have been off and on here over the years so I recognize many of the names. But I had a serious question and it was made out to be a joke by some, with me being the butt of the joke. Not nice. If I hadn't seen this all too often before, I would have easily been scared off. I don't think we should be doing that to anyone. And the regulars should know better. All should feel welcome here, even the naive newbies, the slutty wrist slitters, the honeymooners, the seasoned and the trip of a lifetime travelers.

We just got back from Italy and we visited the Cinque Terre. The last village on our tour had a wonderful beach. I told my husband I could spend some time there. Great little village. I think you would love it.

Our Italian friends have a place in Capalbio which also has a nice beach and it is not too far from Rome.

Also, our Italian friends all go to Sardinia for their holiday. Beaches are supposed to be fantastic there.

Hope you have a great time!

Debbie,
If you're still reading this, I hope you and your friends find your beach place and have a fabulous time! Some of the posts on this thread are pretty funny...that word "fuddy-duddy" you used really struck a nerve, as it will for you too one day sooner than you think. But in the meantime, I second the suggestion of Costa Smerelda on Sardegna, or just check out Sardegna in general. If you choose Rimini instead though, you may want to avoid the "Pink Beach" which opened this year just south of Rimini-it's Italy's first women-only beach, no men or children allowed! Lots of girly-girl spa type things to do, but only one man-the lifeguard! (competition for that job must be heavy...)

Have fun! I'm afraid you might be forced to enjoy a bit of architecture on your way to the beach though....
