Dear Moderators

Please reinstate British National Costume thread.

It was funny.

You can remove link from idiot OP and it won't contravene any board rules.

Yours,

RM etc

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 01:19 PM

PS - seeing as the average Fodorite souvenir is a Hermes scarf or Birkin bag who the hell on here would buy a national costume as a souvenir anyway?

adrienne Jan 2nd, 2013 01:21 PM

You need to send an email directly to the editors. The editors may not see this post. I doubt they will reinstate the thread.

Sense of humour not required on this site.

New rules.

New Year.

Not Happy New Year.

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 01:37 PM

I'm going in the bath now. I expect the thread to be up and running by the time I come out. Or else.

janisj Jan 2nd, 2013 01:41 PM

I agree it was funny -- but I don't think an OP can be removed and the rest of the thread kept. <i>maybe so</i>. But if an OP is deleted there would be no place to 'hang' the other posts. Let's see what happens . . .

oh2doula Jan 2nd, 2013 02:33 PM

OOOOOOOOO where can I get a Hermes scarf in London?????

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 02:44 PM

I rest my case.

oh2doula Jan 2nd, 2013 03:07 PM

RM67 - kidding!! :)

oh2doula Jan 2nd, 2013 03:08 PM

i take it back - where can I get them in London???

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 03:11 PM

I wouldn't know I'm afraid. I'm not big on labels.

nanabee Jan 2nd, 2013 03:19 PM

If it's not travel related but "funny" why not just post it in the Lounge? That is the whole point of the Lounge. This forum is for travel requests and information.

downtownbrown Jan 2nd, 2013 03:22 PM

"Lighten up" has been banished for 2013.

adrienne Jan 2nd, 2013 04:01 PM

nanabee - the original thread was travel related.

Pepper_von_snoot Jan 2nd, 2013 04:04 PM

Daphne Guinness doesn't even carry a Birkin bag around London anymore, old thing.

That Hermes scarf and bag look went out of style when Lucy Clayton shut its doors.

Who wants to go around looking like a posh secretary for one of the directors of Coutts Bank?

If you want to look pukka shop at Brown's.

Calling mkingdom, where are you? We have a bander here.

Oh *stamp*, I missed it.
I reckon a morris dancers costume is the nearest thing we've got. Bring out those bells...

Weegie Jan 2nd, 2013 04:10 PM

>I'm going in the bath now. I expect the thread to be up and running by the time I come out. Or else.<

You've got very assertive in the New Year Ms M. Is this a resolution?

Weegie Jan 2nd, 2013 04:11 PM

>I reckon a morris dancers costume is the nearest thing we've got. Bring out those bells...<

There was a link to Morris Dancing, in kilts, you wouldn't have liked it. :-)

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 04:14 PM

"You've got very assertive in the New Year Ms M. Is this a resolution?"

It's my back up in case I fail at the 'use less smilies' resolution. :-)

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 04:14 PM

Oh bugger!

RM67 Jan 2nd, 2013 04:16 PM

Btw, you are badly needed on the mad vegan thread Tommy - knock some sense into 'em!

janisj Jan 2nd, 2013 04:19 PM

"<i>nanabee - the original thread was travel related.</i>" . . . but unfortunately was advertising.

Weegie Jan 2nd, 2013 04:33 PM

>Btw, you are badly needed on the mad vegan thread Tommy - knock some sense into 'em!<

Vegan? Beyond help missus.

Hi RM67,

This thread was removed because it violated our guidelines against advertising. It is against our moderation policy to edit posts (removing links, words, etc.) We have reviewed the thread and I have reposted it here: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...al-costume.cfm

A victory for Rose! The new assertiveness is working!

Thanks, Amy.

bilboburgler Jan 3rd, 2013 09:02 AM

Amy thanks, it is a good thread.

Now how do we find out what Dobby did with the man in the pub with his two daughters?

annhig Jan 3rd, 2013 09:09 AM

nanabee - the original thread was travel related.>>

only in the loosest possible sense!

[like a lot of stuff here, to be fair].

Amy, THANK YOU!

<<Now how do we find out what Dobby did with the man in the pub with his two daughters?>>

bilbo - i think that the man with the daughters was at a golf club, if that matters.

colduphere Jan 3rd, 2013 09:10 AM

I find that thread insulting to Canadians. I am asking the moderators to deep six it.

RM67 Jan 3rd, 2013 09:14 AM

Thank you mods. :-)

RM67 Jan 3rd, 2013 09:16 AM

Now, where else can I use my new-found assertiveness......

Weegie Jan 3rd, 2013 09:26 AM

>Now, where else can I use my new-found assertiveness......<

Assert yourself into the kitchen and make me a cuppa please. :-)

adrienne Jan 3rd, 2013 09:28 AM

<< Now, where else can I use my new-found assertiveness... >>

Watch out fodorites - RM67 on the move!

I shall now be assertive with you, RM. An ellipsis only has 3 dots...

RM67 Jan 3rd, 2013 09:28 AM

I will make you one if you beat me at UC :-P

Weegie Jan 3rd, 2013 10:03 AM

Fed up beating you at that. You have taken the C out of UC. :)

RM67 Jan 3rd, 2013 10:06 AM

:-O

RM67 Jan 3rd, 2013 10:09 AM

It was Glasgow vs UEA.

And we thrashed you. So there.

(Even with Neil Oliver on your team you still lost!)
