Dday day trip from Paris...

In English? Would love a van, but from what I have researched, very expensive way to go, but maybe I am not going to the right places.

There will be four of us staying in the 6th, would love a van to pick us up, take us to the American spots (Omaha Beach), Point du Hoc, cemetary and maybe a museum, and lunch...and then come back to hotel in the evening...can you tell me what tour company to look into for this kind of tour?

I saw one today that would cost over 1,000 euros for the van and the day. Is this price the norm? Thanks all for any comments on this...

You should be able to do that for 150€ per person. Google "normandy tour from paris" (include quote marks) for some choices.

If being picked up and delivered at your hotel isn't an immutable requirement, you can get to Bayeux in two hours from Gare St-Lazare and pick up an all-day tour there for 150€ per carload. I guess the train fare would be 30.40€ per person or so.

Thanks Robespierre, we would love to take the train and pick up a tour. How do I find out about the tours from Bayeux? I was worried the tours would start to early to do it that way...will try and find more info. Thanks for you assistance.

Is there a tour out of Bayeux that one knows to be in English and is going to focus in on the American aspect?

A lot of people like battlebus.com - it's a little pricey to suit me, but I guess it's okay if you don't know much of the history.

We use local drivers, many of whose families lived through the invasion. You can hook up with one at the train station or at the Tourist Information Bureau in town.
