DB Bahn : Budapest to Prague

Been trying for 2 days now to find tickets for 1st of May travel from Budapest to Prague. DB Bahn site gives me selections but tells me cant book on line. Is there something I am missing as would think that 50 days out should be available.

Yes.
DB is short for Deutsche Bahn which means German Rail.
It's the former state monopoly now still biggest railway company of Germany.
Via their website you can buy train tickets for travels within Germany, and in many cases for travels from Germany to other countries or vice versa. But they do not sell tickets for travels entirely in another foreign country or from one foreign country to another.
Check Hungarian Railways.

You won't find a Hungary to Czech Republic ticket on a German Railways website!

Or on the French Railways website. Or Swedish railways website. Or Chinese Railways website.

So here's an idea, how about using the HUNGARIAN Railways website?! ;0)

www.mav-start.hu can sell tickets from Budapest to Prague from just 19 euros, a bargain. Trains leave at least every two hours. You collect tickets from the little blue internet collection machines at the station.

Booking opens 60 days ahead - you can't book until booking opens.

Oh, and if you wanted Prague to Budapest, you'd want the CZECH Railways website, unless it was a round trip starting in Budapest.

DB most certainly shows bookable Budapest-Prague tickets:

You can't buy the tickets online but if you call the DB Service Center, you can book them with an agent over the phone.

Tariff abroad

For connections outside of Germany, a special ticket is required. These offers are not bookable via the internet.

Tickets may be purchased in any DB ReiseZentrum, authorised travel agencies or over the telephone using DB ReiseService by dialing +44 8718 80 80 66 (chargeable).</i>

Thank you all for your insight. I have tried the Hungarian Railways site and all works well until I get to the registration part. I put in email and established password. I hit enter but nothing happens as far as getting a confirmation that it took. When I go to sign in, I get error message that email and password not associated with active account. How does one get around this? I checked my spam folder thinking maybe they sent an email to allow me to activate registration but nothing. Am at a loss.

You could try using this site:

Or this one:

Dukey1....thank you for your info. Czech railway site will let you book Praugue > Budapest but not the other way around (Budapest > Prague) which is what i am looking for.

The second sight you offered will give you schedule but not pricing or an ability to let you purchase online.

Thanks though for the time you spent trying to help me find solution.

Good luck. I recently discovered buying European Rail tickets online can be a challenge. Searching for answers online may not help. Just today I received my Austrian rail tickets by registered mail which I purchased by emailing a scan of my credit card.

Have you emailed them? They might be the only ones who can help you out.
