Daytrips from Bologna?

We'll be in Bologna for 4 days in May and would like to take a few daytrips. Where do you recommend? I'm thinking about Ravenna, Parma, Modena, Ferrara, or ? by public transportation. Thanks!

Hi Peep,

Will you be visiting Florence and Venice as well?

Ferrara is an easy and worthwhile trip from Bologna. Do a google search and you'll find plenty of info about Ferrara.

Ira, you are such a card! you made me laugh out loud. I am still giggling.

no, Peep is looking for options! let's give Peep some options.

Hi Ira, nope, not this trip (been to both several times already). We live in Munich and are bopping down to Bologna for a few days but would like to see more of the area.

Thanks, HowardR! Ferrara sounds like a winner.

Where else should we go? :)

In four days, you won't be able to see much more than Ravenna, Ferrara, Modena and Parma. Each city deserves a day (Modena half a day). Between Modena and Parma is Reggio Emilia, which deserves a few hours.

I also have an excellent restaurant to recommend in Ferrara--Trattoria Il
Bagattino on Via Correggiari 6. We had a wonderful meal there.

Thanks for the recommendation, HowardR!

I guess I wasn't very clear, but we'll have 4 days total for Bologna and daytrips. I'm thinking 2 days in Bologna and 2 for daytrips, so we can't go everywhere I'd like to and we need to pick 2 other towns. (Is it just me or does anyone else always here that old Oscar Mayer commercial when they see Bologna? B-O-L-O-G-N-A ar ar ar)

I see miles and miles of porticos. I miss that place.
