Daytrip parking in Munich
We are spending 7 days around Salzburg & Bavaria. We have a rental car and our home base is 30 miles south of Salzburg in St. Johann im Pongau. When we daytrip to Munich can someone suggest a good place to park our car? We don't mind public transport or taxis for getting around Munich if walking from site to site is too far. But I do want to park close to Marienplatz (if possible). On the other hand, should we leave the car at the condo and take the train? Whatever the least hassle is, is the way I want to go. Thanks in advance.

I would not drive into Munich if I didn't have to.
No, it isn't bad at all although parking and paying for it can sometimes be a pain. But if you can get on a train or park on the outskirts and take the S-Bahn or a train from where you are all the way in why wouldn't you? Worth any extra cost IMO but to each their own. |
Thanks for your reply. If you know the route we will probably take into Munich (we have a GarminGPS with Europe capabilities)could you tell me what train station would be a good place to leave the car and ride in? Thanks in advance.

http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/web4archi...nnenraum08.pdf Choose a P&R in the Innenraum (Inner area), train ticket prices double outside this area). You can also park the car at Stachus underground parking (right at Karlsplatz) or closer to Marienplatz in the parking house there. http://www.mux.de/ParkhausMarienplatz The price is 15€ per day, but you'll find yourself right downtown! |
The parking house is the least hassle!
