Daytrip Paris to Senlis Using Taxis
Will it be hard to find a taxi in Paris to take us to Senlis? Will it be hard to find a taxi in Senlis willing to drive us back to Paris?
I'm considering engaging a private driver to take us and wait for us in Senlis. But we really would prefer to go by taxi and not incur the charges of a driver for several hours of waiting time.
Our health dictates that we have private transportation, rather than bus or train.

Some taxi drivers do not mind at all, because you have to pay for their empty return as well -- double what the meter says.
This will run you well over 100€ each way.
I don't want to pry, but if you have mobility issues, Senlis is not the place for you. The historic center is nothing but huge medieval cobblestones that are very difficult on which to walk even for 'normal' people.

Thank you, Kerouac, for the helpful reply. I've just reviewed photos of Senlis on-line and have checked out those serious cobblestones. I think we'll be all right as long as we wear the right shoes.
Now I'm thinking that we may ask the taxi to wait for us while we walk around the cathedral and old town area. If what we are seeking is just an immersion in a medieval town, will 1-2 hours be sufficient to provide our medieval, small town fix?

Thanks,Kerouac for the good advice. I guess that we probably should plan to engage a private driver for a 4 hour period.I have heard so much about the charm of Senlis and just watched the DVD "Seraphine" which takes place there, that I really want to walk the town's streets. This will probably be an expensive little jaunt, but I feel compelled to pursue it.
You've been a great help with my day trip research. I appreciate your insights.....and all your contributions to this forum.

Kerouac's advice is always helpful here, but I just wanted to add that although there are many cobblestone streets, the "historic" part of the town is quite small and, if memory serves, you should be able to see it in under two hours, even with a stop for lunch.
We stopped in Senlis (on a tip from this board) on a drive into Paris from Belgium and we're glad we did. We found it quiet (no tourists at all) and charming. Had a nice little outdoor meal, as well. Enjoy!
