Daytrip from prague. Karlovy Vary or Cesky Krumlov?

Hello,
My wife and I have 4 days in prague so we are thinking of squeezing in a day trip. Can't decide on Karlovy Vary or CK. We are early 30's and would love to see some countryside.

Haven't been to Karlovy Vary so can't compare but we spent one night in Cesky Krumlov and really loved this little town. It is a Unesco World Heritage Site. We drove from Prague and the countryside to there is very nice. We did a night tour which was very interesting - I'm sure they do them in the day too, and had a wonderful dinner at U Dobraka (Siroka 74).

I have been to both and thought Cesky Krumlov was particularly quaint and charming. Either way, you'll get a good feel for the Czech Republic outside of Praha. Have fun! The local brew in C.K. (starts with an E?) was great!

I would prefer CK to KV, but the trip is much longer.

CK is not to miss. If you don't have a car you might want to check with www.mike-chauffeur.cz. We were very pleased with
their kind and prompt service. He has been recommended by Rick Steves and other fodorites.

I haven't been to Karlovy Vary either, but Cesky Krumlov is one of the favorite places I have visited. It was very quaint and charming and, to me, had a special feel about it. It was also not crowded (I was there in October). Be sure to view the castle from both sides (from the town, esp. the bridge over the Vltava at the bottom of the castle) and from the side closest to the parking areas); the multi-story covered bridge is amazing and is best viewed from the parking area side.

Cesky Krumlov!!! Karlovy Vary is a spa, it's not a good choice for a day trip.
