What does it mean when they offer 2 for 1 passes for Warwick Castle the following way ~

"2FOR1 with Chiltern Railway"

What does Chiltern Railway have to do with it?

show a ticket that you traveled to Warwick by Chilterns Railway and you get 2 for 1 - just like in London with paper train tickets issued at train stations - paper travel cards usually in London's case. Well this is what it seems anyway to be.

Wow, I had planned on visiting Warwick Castle with my brother and sister-in-law and their two girls, aged 15 and 18 when we are in England in July.

Just noted you are traveling with a group and if taking any other train trips you may want to look into the BritEngland train pass simply because of the Party Pass whereas the 3rd thru 9th persons on a pass pay 50% of what the first two pay and the 15 year old gets a free pass -a Family Pass to match what the adults buy. This can make a railpass a good value even for a few trips and gives you complete flexibility to hop any train anytime - just show up and hop on say when you are done in Warwick, which could also be twinned with a look at nearby Stratford - easily done by rail as well. In any case scour www.nationalrail.co.uk to see all the various prices for ducats bought in England and possible discounted (and often restricted to specific trains or times) tickets - often you can save a lot by buying in advance the limited in number often discounted and restricted tickets over just showing up at the station and buying there. Not on all train lines however but check.

Are there offers at times without the rail etc? We will have a car.

Since the Great British Heritage Pass was discontinued -- the Days Out would be the best deal. Other than that, the only discount deal is a small savings by booking on-line.

Depending on where you're travelling from, it might pay you to drive to the next station along (say, Leamington Spa) and just get the train from there to Warwick (only £1.30 each way). A local ticket should be as good for this offer as a long-distance one; but you'd have to factor in the relative cost of parking, and whatever inconvenience factor you feel, against the saving.

And why not just buy the ticket from Leamington Spa and continue to drive to Warwick, with ticket in hand? Or does it have to be a cancelled ticket - well not nearly all trains have conductors that cancel tickets, especially on such a short train ride. and with car you drive right to the castle - Warwick train station is a bit away from the castle, which I consider to be one of the most fantastic castles anywhere - I cannot believe the Tussauds Group would have altered the old castle itself.

Nope it doesnt because alot of the train lines arent manned, nor do you always get it cancelled. Unless someone else has ahad different experience...I was also going to suggest just buying the tickets at a station on the way to Warwick. Although I believe you need a ticket per person technically (the website says to bring your train ticketS).

And if you ticket ain't cancelled on the train then if you have a full fare ticket I guess you could always refund it - I assume that is possible.

janis mentions that the Great British Heritage pass is now history - but wonder if other schemes like National Trust passes cover Warwick - in any case would have to be viewing some other properties that honor it - or are English Heritage passes still sold and cover Warwick?
