Days inn waterloo
 

Considering staying at the days inn waterloo in october2002.Has anybody stayed there?Can it be recommended.

Haven;t stayed at that particular one but 'Days Inn' motels are in achain so guess they're pretty similar- basic, clean and comfortable double rooms with en-suite bathroom. The location will be convenient for getting to all the major sights and attractions.

No idea about the accommodation but I can tell you about the area.<BR><BR>Its great.<BR><BR>You're on the river (On God's southern side) By the old County HAll.<BR><BR>You have the southbank arts complex just there and TAte britain is a short walk.<BR><BR>Its a hub for travel at waterloo with trains, buses and tubes (and plentiful cabs).<BR><BR>Southwark is just a short walk away with old pubs etc.<BR><BR>A good choice IMHO (subject to the hotel being acceptable)

David, Day's inn Waterloo is on Kennington Road, close to a half a mile from the river.

I probably wouldn't stay there. The main advantage is it is near the Imperial War Museum. But other than that you are a LONG way from anywhere. The nearest tube station is probably Lambeth North. <BR><BR>There are so many nicer areas with economical accomodations. If you want that type of place and want to stay south of the river, the Travel Inn County Hall would be 100% better location.

It is an OK location. Bottom line, it ain't Kensington, but neither is it a bad place. If you get a good deal, then take it. It is no more than a four or five minute walk to the Tube (Lambeth North on the Bakerloo Line takes you to Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, Baker Street, Waterloo and connects with the Piccadilly line that itself goes all the way to Heathrow airport) and you can walk to Westminster Bridge in about seven or eight minutes. There are some nice, cheapish restaurants nearby and a BIG police station opposite, so you'll feel safe. The Imperial War Museum is right on your doorstep, and if you are a cricket fan, the Oval is not very far off too. Buses will take you into Oxford Circus/Trafalgar Square in about 15 minutes, or less if there is light traffic. Oh, and there is a nice pub right opposite. So, if it is a good deal, take it and escape the tourist crowds.

I walked past the Days Inn on my way to the Imperial War museum when I visited London earlier this year. Even though I didn’t see the inside of the hotel, I just assumed that it would be the usual okay Days Inn type and the area is fine by my standards. I should say that I’m partial to the area anyway. <BR><BR>I certainly would stay there, especially if I ever get the chance to visit the Museum again. The Museum is wonderful and very appealing to all age groups. If you go, you may want to schedule at least a three-hour visit to view the displays and browse the gift shop which is a great find for war history buffs. As usual, that’s just my opinion.
