Can anyone give me some suggestions on Day trips from Taormina

1. Naxos (Roman ruins along the coast) <BR>2. Catania (Cathedral, Bellini Museum, Via dei Crociferi, Via Etnea) Easy 2 hours round trip by bus. <BR>3. Siracusa (Archeological Museum, Greek Theatre, Ortigia Island) N.B.: it takes 4 hours by bus round trip, excluding connection time in Catania) <BR>4. Mt. Etna (guided tour) <BR>5. Alcantara Gorge <BR>6. Lipari Island (preferably guided tour) <BR>7. Piazza Armerina-Roman Villa at Casale (preferably guided tour, otherwise requires 6 hours by bus round trip, excluding connection time in Catania).

Cefalu on the north coast of Sicily is a delightful town.

Can you really do a day trip to Lipari Island from Taromina? How would you suggest the best way to get there and back?

The local travel agencies organize a day trip to Lipari (and sometimes to Vulcano as well) once or twice a week during the summer. Cost is under $50 per person. Otherwise, you would have to take the bus to Messina and then a hydrofoil from Messina to Lipari.
