Day trips from sevilla
i am a huge hisory and culture buff and was wondering what sort of day trips i can take from sevilla?
|
Jerez de la Frontera - for the sherry tours and the famous Andalucian Riding School - practices open to public.
Cordoba - a city reeking of history, churches and Moorish influences - one of europe's finest old-worldish town centres. |
Carmona, which is very near. Osuna, about 1hr by train.
|
Well the obvious choice is Cordoba (as PalenQ says), just 45 mins away on the fast train. An easy trip. Wonderful Moorish architecture.

Thank you all for your help! Someone recommended I go to Italica. Is it a good day trip?
|
As far as I know, Italica is Roman ruins. There is an amphitheatre, and mosaics.

I just got back from Spain lat night. When we were in Sevilla we went to Italica for a few hours. It's a really short ride from the city. Probably wouldn't want to spend the entire day there, but it makes for a nice afternoon trip or something. Roman ruins, Colliseum-style amphitheater and all that. There are some really cool mozaics and that sort of thing.
As for Cordoba, I would suggest staying there for a night, not just as a day trip. There's so much to check out. The Mezquita alone will take a long time to go through to really appreciate it. And it's fun to just explore all the little winding streets in the city. |
Lots of possible day trips from Seville. Cordoba, Jerez, Granada, Rhonda, the white towns, even southern Portugal, or Gibraltar etc.
