Day trips from Nice..
 

where I can catch all this buses in Nice, exactly, please..!!!!????

Nice to:

1) Eze Village: Bus 82 or 112. These are direct routes, and the 82 bus runs more frequently than the 112.

2) Monte Carlo: Buses 100 or 112, or the train.

3) Villefranche sur Mer: Buses 81 or 100, or the train.

4) Cap Ferrat: Bus 81. The “Passables” is near the Villa Ephrussi and the Port St. Jean stop is close to the start of the Promenade Maurice Rouvier.

5) Towns west of Nice (Antibes, Juan les Pins and Nice): Train

The buses to Villefranche, Cap Ferrat and Monte Carlo left from the north end of Place Messina when we visited Nice. Beautiful bus rides along the coast.The train station is farther north. Go to the Nice TI on the Promendae des Anglais for maps and information.

Where, exactly, please

North end of Place Messina. Walk from the actual,plaza north a anort ways and you'll see buses there. Ask your hotel to mark your map if you're confused. It was very easy to find.

For the trains, unless you are staying somewhere a little "remote" from the main center of Nice - pick up the trains at the Nice Ville station. You'll see it on any map.

We hopped on most of the buses going east at Place Garibaldi. They may start at Pl Massena, however, as Happy noted. You can pick up detailed route info for specific buses at the TI, I assume. Our apt had them available for us when we arrived.

We found that it's best to visit the sites east towards Italy (Menton, Monaco, Villa Ephrussi, etc) by bus. The views are fantastic. Sites west of Nice (Antibes, Cannes) are best by train. Not so scenic getting there and buses are slow.

Tibor...if you bus to Vence, make sure you get off at St. Paul de Vence which comes first. It has the Maeght Collection and is a typical Cote d'azur hill town. Lunch at Colombe d'or is a long time favorite in the area, can set you back a bundle, though.

I buses to Vence first because I heard about a few-mile-long footpath thru forests going down to St-Paul-du-Vence, coming right out by the Maeght Collection - superb place for art lovers and anyone really - so if walking between them going downhill is a bit easier I think.

A LOVELY SEASIDE STROLL CAP' D'AIL TO MONACO!

My favorite day trip from Nice or any Cote d'Azur base would be to take the train to Cap d'Ail seaside station and then walk along the Littoral coastal foot path the few miles to Monaco - going along a stretch of Riviera coast that is in pristine natural condition with some subdued development that blends in and - not scarring the coast as it has IME much of the whole Cote d'Azur.

Here you have the signature Riviera coast - cypress trees impossibly clinging to large boulders themsleves every so slowly moving towards the sea - and the clear water a deep azure-hue - and just the paved small foot path to disturb it all.

But don't be surprised if you see folks skinny dipping as I have the times I've been on it in warm weather and if you did not bring your swim suit...

the path emerges in Mongte Carlo at the yacht Club - quite a juxtaposition from before you round the tip of the cape and voila Monte Carlo is all its brashness - take the train back to Nice or wherever from Monaco or the bus up ti Eze and down to Nice.

Thanks for that link. I wish I had known about the path when we were there a couple of years ago.

Look,, if you get lost.. you walk up to someone and ask for help.. its not hard. Have a map handy, our hotel gave us one with main sites and streets marked.. they circled where to catch bus. We did it. We do not speak much French at all.. we had never been there before, and we managed just fine. Don't worry so much.
