Day Trips from Naples

A friend and I are staying in Naples for 3 nights at the end of September. What are your recommendations for possible day trips?

Thanks!

Sorrento. I took the train there and the ferry back.

Pompei or Herculaneum.

Leave some time to go the National Archeological Museum in Naples.

If you are a coffee drinker, go to Cafe Messico. Across from Piazza Dante. The espresso is delicious.

Second Pompeii or Herculaneum - take the train.

Capri would have to be quick.

I'd only do Amalfi Coast with a private driver. Public transportation will waste too much time waiting in lines.

Perfect, I will look into Pompeii! To give you an idea of what we are looking for in a day trip for future posts. We are wanting some where that is relaxing and easily accessible from Naples. Mostly we are interested in visiting a very picturesque town that we can casually explore. Maybe with a beach (not a must)? Although I'm not sure what the water temperature will be like this time of the year.

Go to the island of Procida - it is a little jewel that is unspoilt by mass tourism.
