Bonjour Landj,

The French coast of Lake Leman (you'll offend the rest of Switzerland if you call it Lake Geneva outside of the city) will be like a fortified city at the end of May because of the G8 meeting in early June - I know, I live here. If you plan on going to Yvoire, go by boat.

André has given you some good suggestions, I'll just add:

The drive along the lake towards Chillon is even better if you take the "Route du Vin" (get out of the freeway at Gland, then follow towards Aubonne via Luins, Vinzel, Bursins) instead of the freeway until Lausanne. At this time of year, many villages will organise wine tastings over the weekend.

Another great daytrip: get out of the freeway at Nyon, then go up the Jura to Saint-Cergue (stunning view over the Alps on a clear day), La Cure, cross to France and go to Brassus, Lac de Joux, down to Vallorbe (great caverns you can explore without any equipment) then back to Lausanne -> Geneva, with maybe a stop for dinner in an "auberge communale" in Bursins, Vinzel (try the Malakoff - fried cheese batter on toast, a salad and a glass of local white wine), Luins, or Begnins.
