Day trips from Florence

Has anyone used Prestige Tour for day trips to Venice and Pisa/Lucca? Comments please.

Hi,

Any particular reason why you wish a tour?

They are all short trips by train. See www.trenitalia.com/en

I recommend an overnight stay in Venice.

You can't possibly do Venice as a day trip, that would be daft. Do Siena instead. You can take the train from Santa Maria Novella station. I HATE Pisa as a day trip, you will get the impression that Pisa is a dump.

This is just my OPINION. Do what you like.

I have made several day trips from Florence. By bus- Siena, Lucca, San Gigmignano, and by train- Orvieto and Pisa. You have so much more flexibility to do it on your own.

My in-laws just did Venice as a day trip from Florence. It is a three hour train ride from Santa Maria Novella to Santa Lucia. If you leave Florence at 8am, by 11:30am you should be in San Marco. It is not the perfect way to see Venice, but with limited time, I think it may be worth it.

Hi ThinG

It might be daft, but it is possible.

When a traveler asks if something is possible, the answer is nearly always yes. That doesn't mean that the idea will result in a pleasant travel experience or even a tolerable one. A day trip to Venice seems a shame but I suppose it is better than not going to Venice at all. IMHO, a day trip to Pisa is not better than not going at all. I'd scratch Pisa and stay overnight in Venice.
