Day trips from Bologna italy any ideas?
I have the opportunity to now instead of stay in florence to stay in Bologna at my sister-in-laws family's villa.
What i am wondering is for 3-4 days what would people recommend as day trips? I figured going to florence for a day (train is 1 hour) |
Try San Marino very close to Rimini (it easier to get there with a car). Padova, Verona. If you are there for the summer months and want to spend a day in the beach go to Pesaro (beaches there a a bit better than Rimini & Riccione). Ravenna.

Hi R,
You can get to Venice in about 1:34 hr. ((I)) |
I took day trips via trains from Bologne to Verona and Venice - very easy. I would also suggest Ravenna.

You'll have no trouble amusing yourself in Bologna. We were there for five days and only managed a day trip to Ravenna, though we had planned several others. The mosaics in Ravenna are spectacular and it's an easy two hour train ride. Be sure to try La Sorbeteria for gelato. It's incredible!

We based ourselves in Bologna and went to
Ferrara Parma Ravenna Mantua Modena My vote goes to Ravenna, stunning mosaics all over the place. |
Agree with gertie and there is a lot in Bologna itself as well. Don't have notes handy but there is a church on a hill with a 3.5 kilometer portico! Awesome walk. Oldest university in Europe and great food. Enjoy!

Since I'm planning a day trip to Bologna from Venice, it's only fair you do the same in return:)
But I am also intrigued by Rimini if you choose to bypass Venice. |
