Day trips from Amsterdam?

The places you mention are quite far for a day trip. Holland itself has plenty of nice places to visit for a day. Try Volendam and Marken -- both can be visited in a day. Or Delft. Best to get a guide book and read about those things that interest you.

I don't know about the German cities, but
Brussels is about 3 hrs by train from Amsterdam
and then Brugges is another hour beyond that.
Can't do it in a day trip.
Suggest you get a good guidebook or map for
suggestions on possible daytrips. when I was
there, I went to Delft one day and another day some
nearby town where they have a big cheese market.
Can't remember the name, though.

I agree about trips being too far. Go to Zanse Sanchs a quaint Zan Village. The cheese town is Alkmaar and it is on Fridays; great little shops in town. Also, go to Arnhem for the outdoor museum with various houses to view. What about Aalsmeer for the flower auction. Het Lo palace is in Appeldorn and is worth a visit too.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I have one recommendation: Go to Maastricht!
Just happens to be my hometown althought I left years ago I visit it frequently.
It is a 2.5 hour train trip from Amsterdam and the trains go every 30 minutes. It is considered together with Amsterdam the best and most interesting places to visit when you go to Holland.
Don't miss it
