Day Trips

Staying in Rome, Florence, Venice and Positano this spring.

Anyone have names of companies that offer private day trips from any of the above cities.

Especially looking into visiting places from Florence- prehaps, Tuscan villages, maybe either Siena, Luca or Pisa.

Thanks so much!

Siena, Lucca and Pisa are all easy trips from Florence, Siena by bus (which leaves from near the main train station), the others by train.

You might repost with Italy in the title. It sounds like you're looking for a tour guide with a car. If so, you will find several recommendations by searching Fodor's. And are you looking for generic tours or do you have specific interests, like wine or cooking?

Search under the name Luca Garapa of www.hillsandroads.com and you will find many wonderful reviews about him. We used him back in March for two touring days in the southern Tuscany area and absolutely loved it. Highly recommended.

You can also try Megan at www.bellavitaitalia.com for tours of Florence, Lucca and Tuscany. She does a great job...

I second the recommendation for Megan with Bella Vita Italia!

We are taking a cooking class in Tuscany, departing from Florence.

Not sure if that is what you're looking for, but it gets great reviews on this site.

Lucca is a great day trip from Florence (only 70 minutes by train). It is a lovely town to explore, do some shopping and have a great meal. My favorite restaurant inside the walls is Buca di Sant'Antonio. If you're time is limited, I actually suggest this over Pisa - maybe even Siena as I find Siena to be a mini-Florence (not everyone else's opinion). Have fun!

Hi V,

You can visit Orvieto from Rome without a guide.

Train schedules at www.trenitalia.com

From Positano, you can take the SITA bus as far as Sorrento or Salerno.

Hi, We used a great company called Benvenuto Limos and they were great. You can check out their website at benvenutolimos.com We loved the driver who spoke great English and made our trip very memorable.
