Day Trip to Rouen
I am thinking of taking a day trip to Rouen from Paris. After reading some of the past posting on this site, it seems very doable. The only question I have is how easy is it to get to the city center from the train station? Can I walk or should I take cab?
Thanks for the help. |
If by city center you mean the old part of Rouen (where the major sightseeing is located), the train station is located just north. You should be able to walk.

Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks very much.

There's quite a lot of helpful and interesting information on the bonjourparis.com web site, much of it from a man who grew up in the area and has laid out a dandy walking tour.

From the station to the Place de la Cathredrale is about 1000 yards and about the furthest point you will travel. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame (think Monet) and the tourist office are there. The train trip is about 70 minutes.
Be sure to visit the Eglise Sainte Jeanne-d'Arc in the market square, spectacular stained glass. The market square is just that and when I wa there, a carousel was operating. Why is it that France has so many carousels? An excellent source of trips from Paris is Daytrips France by Earl Steinbicker. |
