Day trip to Paris from London: Golden Tours?

DH and I are going to London for a week at the end of July and would like to do a daytrip to Paris. We've seen a tour brochure from Golden Tours that includes train fare, transportation around Paris to major sites, and entrance fees for those. Has anyone had any recent experience with this Golden Tours itinerary? We saw some older posts that were mixed, so just wanted to check to see if there are other companies that do this better or if this is a good idea. We do not speak any French beyond hello, goodbye, thank you, so we're more comfortable with a guide or a tour. Thanks so much, as always, for your advice!

Marysmommy, you might look into Viatours day trips to Paris from London. I have not taken that tour but have been satisfied with their other offerings. Viatours offers an unescorted day trip for $249 and an escorted one for $336 with champagne luncheon and Seine cruise. Others might suggest that you can do the trip alone for less money. But I can understand that you want to see as much as you can in Paris in a short amount of time with an experienced guide. Enjoy…

Thank you! I'm not seeing the Viatours one with a champagne luncheon and the price that shows for the Paris Day Trip is a bit less, so I'm wondering if I'm looking at the same one. In comparing the two day trip excusions, it seems the main difference is the Golden Tours (which is a little more) includes entry to the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, and the Viators does not. Also Viatours mentions the "Hop-on, hop-off bus" and the Golden Tours just says bus. Any idea what that means?

Hi Marysmommy, glad you booked your day trip to Paris. You mentioned that Golden's included a trip to the Louvre - in my view, not enough time for that. You will really enjoy the Seine cruise. Enjoy!

Thank you again--this was much better! A bit shorter too, which is fine with us. We'll toast you at lunch on the Eiffel Tower!
