Day Trip to Paris
Planning a trip to London for a week and thinking about a guided tour to Paris for a day via the Chunnel. A motor coach takes you by all the tourist sites (Notre Dame, Champs Elysee, etc.) and lets you off at the Eiffel Tower. You can add on a tour of Versailles in the afternoon. We've never been to Paris, don't speak much French, and it seems like a stress-free way to see the major sites of the city while being so close. Any thoughts?

Paris is my favorite place in the world and I guess a day trip to Paris is better than no trip to Paris. If you go, I highly recommend that you spend the entire day in Paris and not visit Versailles this time. Go back sometime when you can spend a week a go to Versailles as a day trip.

Pity you can't spend more time in Paris, can't you manage a couple of days instead? I agree on just 1 day might be too much to do Versailles

Have you looked at the jump-on/off bus?
http://www.paris-opentour.com/index_eng.htm L'Open Tour stops right outside the Gare du Nord. Or, if you want more flexibility and less expense, you can do it yourself: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34568214 |
Hi mj,
Have you considered buying a one-day RT ticket on the Eurostar and seeing Paris on your own? See www.eurostar.com AND www.raileurope.com to compare prices. A one-day pass on the Batobus is a nice way to see the major sights. www.batobus.com. ((I)) |
