Day trip to Cinque Terre from Villefranche Sur Mer?

We have 6 days in Villefranche followed by 3.5 days in Paris. We have a car. Is Cinque Terre (or perhaps Portofino or Santa Margherita) too far/tiring/inefficient use of time for a day trip from Villefranche?
Any other suggestion for a daytrip in Italy or should we just stay where we are and enjoy it?

That would be a long day trip--at least 6 hours travel I think and you would have to take the train in to actually get to the Cinque Terre--driving in would be nightmare--and then hike or take the train between towns--I believe you could do it if u chose to spend at least one night there.

Take care,

Robyn is correct about the 6 hours travel time round trip.

There are so many beautiful towns close to Villefranche to explore it would take much longer than 6 days to see them all.

Thanks for the sensible advice. We'll save Cinque Terre for another time.

Don't know if you'll still get this. We just loved Villefranche sur mer. And we just loved Cinque Terre. We've stayed at both, and Santa Margherita.

No way you can do both. So... if you are staying at Villefranche sur mer, we went up to Eze and loved it. We had drinks at Hotel Chevre d'Or. Very expensive, and lovely views from terrace area. And the old men were playing bolle. Another day we went to Monte Carlo and they were have a big-boat show.

Ahh!!! Italy!! Enjoy.
