Day trip to Cesky Krumlov ... Saturday or Sunday better?

We will be in Prague at the end of July and are planning a daytrip to Cesky Krumlov. Based on our plans, it works best to go either Saturday or Sunday - any thoughts about which day is better?

My goals are :
- minimize traffic either direction (will there be Sunday night returnees to Prague?)
- make sure more attractions are open (I think some of the Jewish museums, etc. in Prague are closed on Saturdays, so may make sense to be out of town that day...)

My latest thinking is that Saturday is a better day to go .... thoughts?

Can we assume you are driving your own car vs. taking the bus to Cesky Krumlov?

I'd guess you are right that there would be more traffic on the roads on a Sunday than on a Saturday.

Hi Andrew!

Thanks for thoughts... we actually are hiring a car service to drive for us. I did the math and it isn't worth the hassle factor of renting our own car :)

Oh, yeah, I wouldn't rent a car either just for that - I'd just take one of the direct buses from Prague. I had my own car car for several days in Czech Republic and one stop was Cesky Krumlov. I guess I wouldn't worry about traffic so much if I had a car service doing the driving...

I would go on a Saturday.

I loved the tour of Rosemberg Castle.

What a pretty little town right out of a story by the Brothers Grimm.

Beautiful red roofs on the houses!

I would probably pick Saturday.

Do get tickets to the Baroque Theater tour at the castle! Only a couple tours in English each day and a very limited amount of people on each tour allowed (20 if I recall correctly) so they sell out quickly. It can be booked online ahead of time. One of the few remaining baroque theaters left in the world.

Andrew, I'm probably not terribly patient when sitting in traffic... driving or not. Although it certainly is easier when I can put my head back and nap!

Pepper, thanks for thoughts! Yes, we are definitely doing the castle tour....

Joan, Wasn't sure which tour to take... not sure if the target audience (teens) will be as thrilled with the Baroque Theater tour, but I will def look at it!

thanks all... looks like Saturday it will be. Now off to confirm with the car service...
