Day trip to Berchestegaden from Salzburg

Hi - While we're in Salzburg, we'd like to make a day trip to Berchestegaden. We have a rental car so we'll be driving. We want to go to the Eagles Nest and Lake Konigsee, as well as looking around Berchestegaden. Any advice or suggestions about possible itineraries? Better to do the Eagle's Nest first, then the rest of our sightseeing or vice versa?

Also, is the Maria Gern church near Berchestegaden?

U can do these places in 2 days. Go to eagles nest early on a clear day and by noon you could go to konigsee and do the boat rider. Also you might want to explore obersee area which is the stop after konigsee. If you have another half day you could go to a pretty quaint village of ramsau . Maria gern is nearby too and the location is quite nice but we did it in just about 40 mins or so. Basically, the whole of berchestgaden is beautiful and you will have a lovely time exploring these places. However, if you can spare 2 full days, then it woykd b better to go to eagles nest and konigsee on separate days so as to soak in the place in a better way. Happy holidays

I've been trying to research the bus schedule to the Eagles Nest and cannot make sense of what appears to be the official website. When we went there in 1975, we bought a bus ticket, rode to the top, looked around the building, admired the view & rode back down. Now it looks like you have to be part of a tour? Can anyone help?

If you just have one day, then i would suggest go to eagles nest early morning and do the boat ride on konigsee after that. If you have time left you could go to either ramsau or Maria fern. Or take it easy and avoid the last 2 spots

We went in April this year and didn't go as part of the tour. The tour is optional. We did what you had done earlier

Thanks, everyone! Glad to hear we don't have to be part of a tour.

Do you want to actually see what is inside the Eagle's Nest as well as the bunkers?
