Can you easily take a day trip to Agrigento from Taormina? Thanks. K

Affirmative! The local travel agencies in Taormina offer a day trip by bus to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento once a week. You can obtain details from the hotels. Given the distance involved, I would choose this option rather than doing it on your own (which would require a bus change in Catania and a ride of 3 hrs. 45 mins. in each direction, not counting connection time). The Temple of Concorde is the most beautiful Greek temple in Magna Grecia.

In Agrigento, see my review of the Villa Athena Hotel in the Rants and Raves section of this website. In Taormina, there are many wonderful properties. I stayed at both the San Domenico Palace and at the Villa Belvedere, and can recommend both highly.
