Day Trip Options

I am finishing a year studying abroad in London and have managed to finally squeeze a short trip to Ireland the week before I go back to the States. After reading some posts on Ireland, I came across a recommendation for day trips by train from Dublin that really appeal to me. The two that appeal most to me are to either the Ring of Kerry or The Burren, Cliffs of Moher and Galway Bay, though would be open to going South... I love scenery, did spring break in Greece,Italy, and French Riviera, and loved the cliff-meets ocean scenes of Santorini and Amalfi (I come from Florida where it is only flat coast). That said, I'd also like to see something unique. Any thoughts? Please don't scold me about research, this is a last minute trip and I am planning in the midst of exams .

Those aren't viable day trips from Dublin.

There are Irish Rail tours from Dublin to a number of areas including those you've mentioned. Because Ireland doesn't have an extensive rail system, they are usually done by bus for at least a portion of the trip.

Choosing between the two you mention is tough! The Ring of Kerry is full of bucolic Irish scenery, coastal views, and small towns. But, you'd get more variety by doing the tour that includes the cliffs, the Burren, and Galway Bay. I think maybe I'd go for that one because you'd probably love the cliffs and the Burren really is unique.

Thanks for the responses, I am going through Celtour, and these day trips are viable (7am-10pm), especially since I am 21 and full of energy unlike a lot of you old people . I think I will go with your advice about Moher etc, since this is a cram-all-I-can sort of trip.

It's shorthand for "To The Top".

Someone was kind enough to top your post so more folks would see it and answer...

We may be old, but we're very handy to have around since we're also smart.
