day trip from rome to positano
Hello I would like to know if it is possible to do a day trip from Rome to Positano and what transportation to use.
Thanks |
anyone please
|
The bigger is WHY would you do it?
A private car would make the sense due to the time problem. I think a private car would run around $300-$400. You could take the train to Naples, then switch trains to Sorrento, then take a bus into Positano. (You also could take the ferry.) But both of the ways mentioned above are going to require a significant amount of time and I really don't think you'd have much time left to actually "see" Positano. |
not practical - you'd get there and have to turn around.
settle for Orvieto |
ok that answers my question, it will have to be some other time
thanks |
take an early train from Rome to Naples (about 2 hrs) then hire a driver to drive you around the Amalfi Coast for the day (probably 300-400 Euros). Take the train back to Rome in the evening.
It will be a long day but if you really want to go then it is doable. |
it's doable by public transport as well
Rome-Naples 1 h 45 min by new ETR trains Naples-Sorrenton 60-75 min by CircumVesuviana (this train also stops at gates of Pompeii) Amalfi coast buses from Sorrento to Salerno - 2-3 buses/hr - Amalfi the town itself would be my recommended break and take bus to Salerno for direct trains back to Rome driver may not be much quicker along Amalfi as the road is often chock bumper bumper in season so buses just as fast. would get you to Sorrento quicker though. |
