Day trip from Paris?

Hi everyone,

We will be staying in Paris for 9 days by the end of Sept. What kind of day trips can I take by train? I would like to visit near by cities. Thanks

Helen
The most popular day trips
are Versailles, Giverny (Monet's home, studio and gardens), Chartres,Chantilly,
Fontainebleau. A bit further out is Reims (with champagne caves to visit).
I have more info on my Paris notes; if you want to see them, email me.

Day trips from Paris I have enjoyed by train:

1. Versailles
2. TGV to Tours, from which I toured several chateaux in the Loire valley.

With nine days in Paris you could do both and still have a week in Paris proper -- I highly recommend both.

Planning a trip late December and early January to Osa Peninsula. I would like to know the typical daily temperature and humidity level encountered at this time of year.

I'm building a website on my travels. It's a bit premature, but you can check out lots of links of France and travel sites in general that may help you.
www.travelswithdiane.homestead.com

This site is totally non-commercial. Just a labor of love. Have a great trip.

I have none resounding recommendation for a day trip: Vaux-le-Vicomte near Melun. If you are not familiar with it, how is your chance. It is almost restored to its original glory, but there ae problems because Old Louis 14 stripped the place and time was not kind to it either. The story is that Louis' minister of finance, Forquet, built the place. He gave a party to celebrate and invited Louis over for a drink. The end result was that Louis put Forquet in jail, hauled off all the furnishings to his house, and also took along the designer - architect, painter, and lacndscaper to start Versailles. The place is a masterpiece. It is a complete artistic design.
