Day trip from Bled, Slovenia to Salzburg possible

My husband and I will be staying near Lake Bled, Slovenia at a villa in the Triglev National Forest. Our daughter, her husband and 2 teen daughters will be joining us. We will be renting a van to take side trips. We were wondering if it's possible to make a long day trip to Salzburg. It looks like a pretty mountainous trip so I'm not sure if it would be possible.

If we can't make that trip any suggestions about other places to go north of Slovenia. I think we pretty much have the Southern part figiured out.

Thanks

www.viamichelin.com will give you distance, time and cost (you need the vignette for Austria).

There are many options where to go while your stay in Slovenia. I suggest you to visit also Lake Bohinj and surroundings ( 20 km from Bled); waterfall Savica, take a cablecar to Vogel, visit some tourist farms with home-made Slovenian food. You can also go by van to Kranjska Gora, crossing the Vršič pass and driving to Trenta Valley with Soča River (destinations of excellence in Slovenia). You can visit for ex. Alpine Museum in Mojstrana, there are also many attractions: natural beauty spots, cultural sights etc or activities: such as hiking, rafting, cycling) depends what are you interested in. Some useful information can be found at tourist information centres (almost in every town)and at the website: www.Slovenia.info . If this is your first visit in Slovenia, you should also visit Postojna cave or Škocjan caves, Lipica stud farms, Ljubljana. Enjoy your stay in sLOVEnia!

Yup, Salzburg is doable but you are in for a long drive & day. Probably ? 5 hours round trip driving. Good route and don't forget to purchase your windshield toll sticker for Austria.
