Day trip: Dresden to Prague

Has anybody done a day trip by train to Dresden, Germany from Prague? Worth our while for one day? How long will it take and the charge for the train?
Thanks.

Visit bahn.de or vlaky.cz for info on trains.

I'd say a day trip would be tough unless you limit your time there severely....

I will be in Dresden in Oct and Checking the bahn web site it takes about 2 hours. I did this one other time but stayed over night. Just wanted to see. If possible try to stay one night if not and the day is clear go for it.

I've done the reverse several times. It's an easy 2 - 2 1/2 hr train ride, no changes.

I usually pack a breakfast to have on the train, arrive at my destination mid morning. Spend the day till I'm tired and head back. QED.

Thank you all for your posts. I think we have decided to spend our time in Prague and visit the surrounding towns instead of venturing into Germany.
Happy travels!
