Day trip and Lucca from Siena
Hello,
My boyfriend and I will be in Siena without a car and are looking for the best way to get to Lucca as well as some possible day trips.
After this we will be headed to Cinque Terre, we have both already been to Florence so although we are not opposed to transfering in Florence we will not be staying overnight.
Any suggestions?

There is no direct transportation between Siena and Lucca. You'd bus to either Florence or the Pisa airport and then train to Lucca. I'd guess 3 hours (or more?) each direction.
Here's a map showing the extra-urban bus service from Siena:

Once you see the bus line number to where you want to go, you can scroll down to the timetables here:
http://www.trainspa.it/train04/extraurbano.pdf
Then you can search train timetables here (using Italian names for cities, i.e., Firenze) for the closest connection:

How many nights will you be staying in Siena? How are you going from Siena to the Cinque Terre? Train via Florence?

Lucca is not that big. I took a train from Florence a few years ago--only a couple of hours as I recall. Got there in the afternoon and went back after it got dark. Walked around town, had dinner and walked on the city walls. It's a lovely place but a half day would be fine.
