Day tours while in Florence

A friend and I will be in Florence in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for 1/2 day or full day tours. Any particular tour operators that you would recommend? Do you know of any websites where I can book them before we leave?

Thanks-
Sue

Sue:
I don't know specific operators - we drove ourselves but Sienna and SanGimignano are both beautiful. The duomo in Sienna rivals florence and is worth the trip alone.

Best options:
Siena, Cinque Terre, San Gimignano, Orvieto, Spoleto, Montepulciano or one of the dozens of other historic villages of Tuscany

Sue:

Try the www.scalareale.com site. They lead tours in Rome but they have links to a couple of Florence tour setups. Many have praised scala reale on this site, so I imagine their links are of equally high quality.
this is from the aol Italy board. We have not used her yet but have a day booked with her in April when we will be there. Not inexpensive but the 10 or so recomendations I have read about her make it seem very worth the expense.

"Pauline Priore is a wonderful tour guide in Florence. You can read about her on this board as someone is always writing about her. We've used Pauline's services for years and have had the most memorable times with her."
Her e-mail is [email protected]
