Day tours- Iceland

We will be in iceland from 7am to 7pm in early June. We would like to swim in the Blue Lagoon for about an hour and then continue with some sightseeing. Any recommendations on independent local tour providers(websites) would be appreciated.

You can book once you get there, most people seem to use Reykjavik Excursions, we did the Golden Circle tour with them and they also have tours that include the Blue Lagoon

We used Reykjavik Excursions for our Golden Circle trip as well-it was outstanding! It's about an 8-hr trip, so you'll have a little bit of time left for a trip to the Blue Lagoon. If you're more interested in exploring Reykjavik, then I'd recommend the 2-hr city tour, leaving time to walk around and enjoy lunch or dinner downtown, the head to the Blue Lagoon. At least you've got a couple of options during your brief visit. ENJOY !

I just got back from spending one week in Iceland. I used Iceland Excursions for the Golden Circle Tour as they were 600 krone (about $9) cheaper than Reykjavik Excursions. I did use RE for the South Shores Adventure.

Since they do take up most of the day (9 AM until 5PM) and since you have such a limited time there, I would use Kristi's suggestion that you take one of RE's tours that include the Blue Lagoon.

Iceland is an amazing place. I enjoyed my time there and will definitely make a return visit.

Many people take in the Blue Lagoon just before they fly out. The Blue Lagoon tours are generally timed to get you to Keflavik in time for your flight out.

How many people in your group? If there are at least four of you, I'd recommend a private tour operator, who could pick you up from the airport, take you around some of the Golden Circle sites, then get you back to Keflavik with enough time to get in a Blue Lagoon soak. It might cost you a bit more, but you will get more out of your time.

I would highly recommend Highlander Adventures (http://www.highlander.is/), a small family-run enterprise. Oli will take you wherever you want to go, and provides great commentary.
